The Fastest Growing Cosmetic Procedure Isn’t What You Think

News flash! The fastest growing cosmetic procedure probably isn’t one you’d expect.

A recent report published by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons contains several surprising statistics. However, one thing is for sure. The demand for plastic surgery continues to grow, as a result of technological advancements and a wider range of available options. Continue reading, to learn more.

Buttock Augmentation

And the winner is… buttock augmentation. Data indicates that buttock implants and lifts are among the fastest-growing surgeries available. Fat injections remain to be minimally invasive, regardless of the specific area of the body that is receiving them. This type of surgery was up two percent, from 2013 to 2014. Fat grafting was up 15 percent, for the same time period.

Top Five Procedures

The top 5 minimally-invasive procedures, for this period, include:

  • Botox
  • Soft tissue fillers
  • Chemical peels
  • Laser hair removal
  • Microdermabrasion

The top five surgical procedures include:

  • Breast augmentation
  • Nose reshaping
  • Liposuction
  • Eyelid surgery
  • Facelift

Plastic Surgery and Men and the Fastest Growing Cosmetic Procedure

According to the ASPS report, more men are taking advantage of plastic surgery than ever before. In all honesty, why shouldn’t they? Self image is becoming just as important for the male population as it has been for women. The most popular procedures for men are currently male breast reduction and pectoral implants.

Breast Reconstruction and Cancer Patients

Breast reconstruction is very important for cancer patients who wish to maintain the highest quality of life possible. In 2014, these procedures increased by 7 percent. This is due in part to a Breast Reconstruction Awareness Campaign, launched by the ASPS.

The organization hopes that the campaign will help to educate and empower women to make the most informed decisions, after receiving the diagnosis of breast cancer.  Unfortunately, many women are completely unaware of all of the options available when it comes to reconstructive surgery.

Now that you’re aware of the fastest growing cosmetic procedure, you probably have additional questions. This is especially true if you’re interested in the possibility of having a procedure done yourself.
