What is Restylane^®?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is present in all living organisms. In your skin it creates volume, resulting in a healthy and vital appearance. Restylane^® contains hyaluronic acid in the form of a crystal-clear gel injected into the skin to lift the lip, wrinkle or fold. Once in the skin, Restylane^® works together with the body’s own hyaluronic acid adding volume to the injected area.

Restylane^®‘s ability to bind water is unique, and when the molecules dissolve, they turn into water and depart without leaving any trace in your body. Unlike permanent implants, Restylane^® will dissolve over time. The patient then has the option to refill the area, if desired. As the face is constantly changing, beauty is best maintained by periodically evaluating with Dr. Dickie the need for further treatment.

In contrast to other biodegradable implants, Restylane^® is not extracted from animals. Restylane^® is perfectly safe to use instantly without pre-testing.

Who is a good candidate for Restylane^®?

You may be a good candidate for Restylane^® if you have lines around your mouth and nose, crow’s feet (around the eyes), nasolabial lines (laugh lines), hollow cheeks and/or thinning lips. The most appropriate lines to treat with Restylane^® are those that are described as static, the lines you can see when your face is at rest.

Procedure

Following your consultation and facial analysis with Dr. Dickie, the actual injection process only takes about 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the area(s) to be treated. When treating wrinkles, pain relief is not usually needed.

Recovery

Immediately after your procedure, the treated area may include temporary redness, tenderness and bruising, which may be covered with light mineral makeup. For the first 24 hours after your treatment, you should avoid strenuous exercise, extended exposure to sun, or extreme temperatures.
