What is Juvéderm?
As we age our skin starts to lose hyaluronic acid (HA) and collagen. This results in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Dr. Dickie can now reverse these signs of aging with cosmetic injectables, such as Juvederm filler. The treatment fills the wrinkles and folds, resulting in a more youthful-looking skin.
Hyaluronic acid is a a complex sugar naturally found in many tissues of the human body, primarily in the skin, connective tissues, and eyes. As we age, our bodies produce less HA, resulting in a loss of skin elasticity and the formation of wrinkles and fine lines. In cosmetic surgery and aesthetics, hyaluronic acid is commonly used in the form of dermal fillers. Hyaluronic acid-based treatments are minimally invasive, often requiring little to no downtime, making them a popular choice for those seeking cosmetic enhancements without surgery.
Juvederm is a soft, injectable hyaluronic acid gel filler, that replenishes and refreshes your appearance, minimizes the appearance of wrinkles, thinning skin, and lips. Once injected, the Juvederm filler combines with the water in your skin to instantly restore lost volume in facial tissue and reduce lines and wrinkles.
Who is a good candidate for Juvéderm® Facial Filler?
You may be a good candidate for Juvederm dermal filler if you have lines around your mouth and nose, crow’s feet (around the eyes), nasolabial lines (smile lines, laugh lines), hollow cheeks and/or thinning lips. The most appropriate lines to treat with Juvederm are those that are described as static, the lines you can see when your face is at rest.
Due to aging or weight loss, patients may experience volume loss in the chin, cheek and temples. Juvederm Voluma is very effective in restoring fullness to these areas resulting in a more youthful look.
Cosmetic Injection and Lip Filling Procedure
Following your consultation and facial analysis with Dr. Dickie in our cosmetic surgery facility in Barrie (ON), the actual injection procedure only takes about 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the area(s) to be treated. Juvederm is injected directly into the skin using a fine needle to reduce injection discomfort. Juvéderm® also contains pain-reducing lidocaine, which helps make the injection process a more comfortable experience. Your results are instant; you will see an immediate improvement to the treated area.
Recovery
Immediately after your facial injection procedure or lip augmentation, the treated area may include temporary redness, tenderness and bruising which may be covered with light mineral makeup. For the first 24 hours after your treatment, you should avoid strenuous exercise, extended exposure to sun, or extreme temperatures.
How long does Juvederm last?
A Juvéderm treatment can last between one and two years, depending on how quickly the body reabsorbs the hyaluronic acid.
Does Juvederm work instantly?
In most cases patients will notice a significant improvement in their skin condition right after the facial injection treatment or lip fillers. However, patients will experience the final results after few weeks when the dermal filler is settled into the skin.
