How to Eliminate Forehead Aging Signs Quickly

As we age, our bodies don’t produce as much of the ingredients (collagen and elastin) to keep skin looking young and firm. Skin loses its elasticity and begins to wrinkle.

One of the signs of aging is wrinkles and fine lines on the forehead. If you feel self-conscious about the appearance of your forehead, consider talking to your plastic surgeon about a forehead lift.

What is a Forehead Lift?

This type of surgery involves tightening the tissues underneath the forehead and altering any problematic muscles that cause sagging or drooping. There are two ways to surgically lift the forehead.

The first way to perform this surgery is known as the conventional method. During the conventional method, the surgeon creates a tiny incision behind the hairline. This cut is so small that it’s nearly invisible to the naked eye.

A second method to surgically lift the forehead uses a device called an endoscope. An endoscope is a scope with a light attached to it. In order to insert the endoscope, the surgeon makes tiny incisions behind the hairline. The goal of using an endoscope is to reduce numbness and scarring as well as increase the speed of recovery. Endoscopic forehead lifts are a newer form of this procedure.

Regardless of which type of procedure the surgeon performs, the goal is the same: to provide the patient with a youthful, rested appearance.

Things to Know about Forehead Lifts

The surgery typically takes between an hour and two hours. Patients receive IV sedation or twilight anesthesia. You don’t need to go to a hospital; a surgeon can lift your forehead on an outpatient basis.

After undergoing a forehead lift, you’ll be in a certain amount of discomfort. Mild medication will relieve the pain. You’ll notice swelling and bruising around the incision site for about five to ten days afterwards.

Keeping your head elevated will help reduce the swelling, as will the application of cold compresses. There might also be numbness and itching. The doctor will remove the sutures in seven to ten days after the operation.

Once the swelling and bruising have subsided, you’ll be able to see the results of the surgery. A forehead lift should last for at least ten years. You can have the procedure repeated if you so desire.
